In the Editing Cave

a writer standing in front of an editing cave kazun

The last few weeks have been all about the manuscript edits for me.

My Project Arrow romantasy has been in the making for such a long time now, and I’m so excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Whenever I’m in the revisions process with the current book I’m writing, I tend to call this “the Editing Cave,” even though I obviously haven’t moved into a primitive dwelling of some sort. (Although that would be wild!) For me, it’s more of the feeling of going deep within, taking some steps away from the world for a little while as I dive into my edits.

I did actually create a fun Instagram reel about the “Editing Cave” after my brother and I visited some remote areas in Istria, Croatia. We found some very cool kazuns—traditional stone huts used by farmers and shepherds for shade, storage, or livestock. They’re huts, but also a bit cave like. Come to my Instagram if you’d like…I would love to connect!

Even though I’ve been diving deep throughout this revision process—I’m truly looking forward to sharing this book with the world—I’ve also been focusing on honoring the process and staying in the present moment. It’s easy to look only to the future, but then we miss out on all the beauty that the journey gives us!

A few things I’ve been doing to stay present during my editing is to take frequent breaks—for movement, dance, walking in nature, rest…anything that gets me into my body and out of my mind for a bit. I’ve been keeping my writing space really tidy and high vibe with candles, flowers, and essential oils, and taking time to pay attention to these beautiful things around me.

And then of course, there’s gratitude…I always feel like there is so much to be grateful for. Each night, I take out my journal and write a list of all the things I am thankful for in this amazing writing journey.

So thankful for all of you who are joining me in it! Grateful to have you here.

xoxo,

Ana
